Center for Parent Information and Resources (CPIR) Website

AmDee created the Center for Parent Information and Resources’ (CPIR’s) site design & executed the development using WordPress with large data migration of content from the former NICHY website to the new CPIR website.
The site was developed to meet an AA accessibility standard.

From the Client

As a project director and dissemination lead for several U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) funded technical assistance centers, I have been responsible for selecting web developers, leading website content design, and managing sites in WordPress and Drupal. Websites on those projects were required to be accessible to people with disabilities, easy to navigate, and attractive. I’ve relied on AmDee to develop and manage websites in WordPress and Drupal for the Center on Technology and Disabilities, Center for Parent Information and Resources, Center for IDEA Early Childhood Data Systems (DaSy Center), and SRI Education’s Student Behavior team. AmDee has been my go-to web developer for eight years.

Challenges

The content from the previous NICHY website had content that needed to be saved and kept online with a very tight window to complete the project, less than 4 weeks total.

  • Rethinking of how to handle the content from NICHY on a tight deadline
  • Large scale development and migration within a small window of time

Solution

AmDee had to propose a way to display the content that could be both designed and developed within the needed window.

  • A custom script was written, tested and deployed to rapidly copy their content to a new site.
  • A design was presented that could accommodate their current content with the ability to add more as they grew.
